We welcome visiting yachts and boaters to Gibson Island, where you will find a wonderful yachting experience. Over the years we have entertained many yacht clubs including the Virginia Yacht Club, West River Sailing Club, New York Yacht Club, Annapolis Yacht Club, the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake, the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia. The draw to Gibson Island is our beautiful harbor and excellent facilities.
The Gibson Island Yacht Squadron staff has a combined 50 years of experience, and they will greet you with eagerness and a smile. They are familiar with all types of vessels, sail and power, and have even been known to scamper aboard arriving vessels to assist captains to berth safely in challenging weather conditions.
The Boathouse is a distinctive feature of our harbor, and is the social hub of GIYS. Sited halfway down the Causeway connecting Gibson Island to the mainland, it includes a quiet sitting room with fireplace, showers and changing facilities for ladies and gentlemen, grills ready for cooking, ice and water, and loads of fun people. The building and harbor are wireless “hot spots”.
Moorings are available in the Harbor and berthage with power and water is available at the Boathouse. Call “Gibson Island Harbormaster Office
” on VHF channel 78A as you approach to communicate with our Harbormaster, Captain Denver Sanner, who will advise you of rates, assist you with berthing arrangements and help make your stay most pleasant.
